PNG → PESProof before you sew

Turn a PNG into a machine-ready PES embroidery file

Drop in a PNG logo and ThreadProof plans the stitches, simulates the stitch-out, and scores it for stitchability — so you see a proofed, filled embroidery design before you ever thread the machine. Built for Brother, Baby Lock, and every other embroidery brand.

PES-ready workflow: upload your PNG, get a proofed, filled embroidery design and a DST file now (PES coming). Nearly every machine — including Brother and Baby Lock — reads DST via USB, so your design stitches out today while native PES export lands on the roadmap.

How PNG → PES works

Four steps, all in your browser. No upload to a server, no account required to preview.

Step 1

Upload your PNG

Drop a PNG logo, mark, or drawing. JPG, WebP, and SVG work too. Images are auto-vectorized for thread.

Step 2

AI recommends

ThreadProof picks fill type, stitch density, underlay, and pull compensation for your fabric and hoop.

Step 3

Preview stitch-out

Watch a live stitch simulation and a ThreadProof score flag defect risks — with one-click repairs.

Step 4

Download

Export a machine file — a proofed, filled DST today (PES on the roadmap) — and stitch it from USB.

From flat PNG to a filled stitch-out

A PNG is flat pixels. An embroidery file is a path of thread. ThreadProof plans the fill so the shapes become real stitches — here is the idea.

This is an illustration of how fill stitching is planned — your real preview is generated from your own PNG inside the tool.

Every file gets a ThreadProof Score

Before you download, ThreadProof grades stitchability so you know the file will run — no guesswork at the machine. Example below.

92 / 100

Supported output

Export a machine-ready stitch file plus proof assets. More native machine formats are landing on the roadmap.

DST and EXP export today. PES, JEF, and VP3 native export are on the roadmap — until then, DST loads on Brother, Baby Lock, and virtually every other machine straight from USB.

PNG to PES — frequently asked

Straight answers about converting a PNG to an embroidery file.

Can I convert a PNG to a PES file here?

ThreadProof turns your PNG into a fully planned, proofed embroidery design with an AI-recommended fill and a stitchability score. Today it exports that design as a DST (and EXP) file; native PES export is on the roadmap. Because Brother and Baby Lock machines read DST from USB, your PNG stitches out now — and you can re-export to PES natively once that format ships.

Will the file work on my Brother or Baby Lock machine?

Yes. Nearly every Brother and Baby Lock embroidery machine reads DST files directly from a USB stick, so the DST ThreadProof generates loads and stitches without extra software. DST carries stitch paths but not thread colours, so you set thread colours at the machine or in your embroidery software.

How good does my PNG image need to be?

A clean, high-contrast PNG with clear shapes works best — a logo, mark, or line drawing on a plain background. Higher resolution and crisp edges give a cleaner vectorization and a tighter stitch-out. Blurry photos, gradients, and busy backgrounds are harder to stitch, and ThreadProof will flag those risks in the preview before you commit.

Is there a limit on tiny text or fine detail?

Embroidery has physical limits: very small text and hairline detail can distort or bunch when stitched. As a rule of thumb, keep lettering roughly 4–5 mm tall or larger. ThreadProof warns you when detail is too fine for the thread and design size you chose, so you can enlarge or simplify before downloading.
